The Apostle Paul provided good instruction about consistency of life when he said: “Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” (Romans 12:1–2).

Our sacrifices to God must be living! Our dedication to God must be complete! Whether we are talking about our jobs, our homes, our hopes and dreams, everything must be evaluated in light of our duty to be living sacrifices. We must present our bodies, our lives, etc., over to the Lord as living sacrifices. A living sacrifice speaks to the need for our service to the Lord to be genuine. The Jews under the Levitical system were commanded to offer only the best that they had and we must give only our best to Him. Yet, all the animals that were slain and all the blood that was shed could not atone for sins (Hebrews 10:4). It took the sacrifice of God’s Son to make salvation possible for every man (Hebrews 2:9). How consistent are you as a living sacrifice?
